Eyam Plague Stone Poisoning

By Andy Nichols

When a body is discovered slumped against Eyam's famous Plague Stone, this sleepy Derbyshire village finds itself at the centre of a baffling murder mystery that threatens to unearth secrets buried deeper than the plague victims of 1665.

Retired headmistress Margaret Thornhill never expected her morning constitutional to involve stumbling over a corpse. But when local historian Gerald Farnsworth is found poisoned at the very monument where plague-stricken villagers once left coins in vinegar for safe trade, Margaret can't resist applying her formidable intellect to the puzzle. Armed with her acerbic wit, her long-suffering friend Phyllis, and an unfortunate amount of unsolicited help from the village's amateur dramatics society, Margaret discovers that Gerald's research into Eyam's past has stirred up dangerous present-day grievances.

- A deliciously twisty mystery set in England's most famous 'plague village' where history and murder collide
- Sharp dialogue, quirky characters, and the kind of gentle humour that will have you chuckling into your tea
- Perfect for fans of Richard Osman's Thursday Murder Club and anyone who loves their mysteries with a distinctly British flavour

As Margaret peels back layers of village politics, family feuds, and historical controversies, she realises the killer is closer than she thought-and they're not finished yet. With the annual Plague Sunday commemoration approaching, can she solve the mystery before history repeats itself in the deadliest way?

If you love unputdownable cozy mysteries with heart, wit, and a thoroughly British sensibility, you'll adore this feel-good whodunit. Pour yourself a cuppa and prepare to be charmed by Eyam's most unlikely detective.
