Detective Sergeant Natalie Dvorak of the Vermont State Police travels to New Mexico on assignment to retrieve a fugitive for extradition. Before the paperwork is complete, a prominent local citizen turns up dead from a bullet and Natalie's fugitive becomes the Sheriff's prime suspect in the murder.
