Book Overview

Master medical terms on your terms A combination text/workbook, Exploring Medical Language, 11th Edition provides exercises that make it easy to build an understanding of medical terminology. Organized by body system, medical terms are divided into two categories: 1) Words built from word parts, and 2) Words NOT built from word parts. Fun and engaging exercises help you first learn word parts and then learn how to combine the parts into full medical terms that make sense. The text also comes packaged with paper flashcards. For more practice, you can visit an Evolve website with games, activities, flashcards and practice exams. From well-known educators Danielle LaFleur Brooks, Myrna LaFleur Brooks, and Dale Levinsky, this learning package helps you gain fluency in medical language and communicate clearly in the health care setting.

great text

This is a great way to learn medical terminology. It's easy to understand, interesting and presented in a way that makes it easier to learn than just straight memorization. I am planning on keeping this book and not reselling it, because I think it will be a great reference for future classes as well.

FAST delivery!!

I paid extra to have them delivered in 24 hours and sure enough, they came. Awesome!

Very thorough...

My son finds this book very helpful in his prenursing course which is also entitled Medical Terminologies. It is thorough and comprehensive. The root words are very helpful and the pictures are descriptive.

Excellent Textbook! Received an "A" in my class also!

I just took this course at a local college and I thought this textbook was excellent. The materials are well laid out and the book includes many photos and drawings of medical procedures. The book includes the following sections for each chapter: anatomy, combining forms, prefixes, suffixes, terms built from word parts, terms not built from word parts, procedures, diseases, acronymns, and many excellent practice sections in each chapter. If you follow the layout of the chapters and do the practice exercies then you will do well in this class. Medical terminology is very logical and practical. Good luck!

THANKS FOR THE "A" MYRNA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Before I bought "Exploring Medical Language" I knew absolutely nothing, and I mean nothing about Medical Terminology. And to tell you the truth, when I first opened this huge, intimidating, monster of a book, It scared... me... I mean, wouldn't "rhabdomyosarcoma" or "esophagogastroduodenoscopy" frighten you (just a bit) I thought, nooooo way.But I opened it, read it, did the cool excersises, listen the the audio tapes, played a bit with the CD-R.She begins at the beginning.....Little baby steps. All of a sudden... I was like, I get it! I really get it!Not only that, but I was beginning to enjoy it. The prefix, suffix, and word roots suddenely become beautiful, flowing words that make sense. Myrna LaFleur Brooks made this book come alive, interesting, and allowed medical language to become a little bit like music.Well, a little!!!! Thanx for the "A" Myrna!
