Having both read Dr. Snyder's book as a reference and taken her accompanying course at UW-Milwaukee, I feel that she does perhaps the best job of summing up the functional relationships between training and nutrition of any text that I've come across. Information is both approachable and complete, with sufficient detail into exercise physiology to interest the serious student of human kinetics, but without going over the heads of people seeking general information to improve fitness programs. Especially useful are the appendices, which include an exhaustive list of nutrition data for common foods, as well as MET expenditures for a variety of activities. As a personal trainer and strength and conditioning specialist, I refer to Dr. Snyder's text on a regular basis. It offers valuable insight to fitness professionals seeking useful ways to break down nutrition information for athletes and clients into an understandable format.
