Jennifer Grant is wondering what happened to her perfectly planned life. A few months prior to her college graduation, an unexpected pregnancy turns her world upside down. She abandons her faith and her plans for ministry, and begins life as a single mother. In an effort to make a fresh start, Jennifer moves from her childhood home in tiny Bluefield, Illinois to Chicago. She's living an unexceptional life, raising her three-year-old son Ben and working at the library when she meets Malik Williams. Malik has his own plans. He's working to open a fair trade retail store on the city's south side. His mother, however, is determined to marry him off and send him back to the mission field where his parents raised him. Despite their circumstances, a relationship begins to grow between Jennifer and Malik. But nothing is as simple as it seems, and a series of events threaten their future together. Ultimately, Jennifer must make a choice - will she continue to condemn herself for her mistakes, or will she forgive herself and accept God's love in spite of her imperfection?
