A generalized onset seizure is what's known as an absence seizure. This type of seizure affects both sides of the brain at the same time. Whenever you have an absence seizure, you won't be aware of what's going on around you. Petit mal seizures were the more common name for absence seizures in the past. Absence seizures are brought on by transient changes in the electrical activity that occurs in the brain, just like other forms of seizures. The absence of movement or other forms of motor activity, such as jerks and convulsions, is what is meant by the term "absence." According to the classification system used by the International League Against Epilepsy, an absence seizure can also be referred to as a nonmotor generalized onset seizure. Absence seizures, on the other hand, might occasionally entail relatively minor motions that are frequently recurrent, such as rapid blinking.
