A story of a young girl who struggles with dyslexia and eventually with the help of her teacher learns skills to help her succeed.
A young girl, Everly, has struggled with reading for many years. Eventually, her teacher Mrs. Kay sees her struggle, identifies it as dyslexia, and helps her. Using the Davis method Everly learns skills to help her in all areas of life. At the end of the book, resources and similar stories are provided to help young readers like Everly.
This story is very personal to me, as I am dyslexic, and in first and second grade I struggled with dyslexia. In third grade, I got help from a trained professional. I learned to read the same way Everly does. Everly is very similar to me. When I was small, my mom would spend hours reading books to me before I discovered audiobooks. The names of people and places in the book are loosely inspired by the names of those who helped me the most. I created this project for my gold award as a part of girl scouts, I have put so much hope and love into this book, and my dream is that it will help someone like me.
