Based on historical fact, this young adult novel tells the story of Will Cypress, a half-Seminole boy living among his mother's people during the Second Seminole War. He meets Chief Osceola and travels with him to St. Augustine.
As a writer/researcher who has written a Florida History book myself, (CRACKER COW:A Narrative of Florida History)I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book for middle grade readers. It provided a great plot, characters who grabbed you and kept your interest all the way through, and lots of Florida history, all wrapped up in a great story.

The authors have captured the combination of adventure and history into a story that will appeal to the younger reader. Their previous RACE to KITTY HAWK and most recent KIDNAPPED in KEY WEST, are excellent examples of similiar writings.....would recommend all three, great for grandchildren too.
