Clara Bright's emotional, confusing, and mysterious journey begins in Saint Louis following the financial crisis of 1907. Turns out the claims to the mine and the homestead weren't what they seem, but they finally end up on a lonely quarter section homestead in 1910, following two years of working in Colorado Springs.
What follows is a story filled with puzzling conversations, clandestine relationships, betrayal, emotional torment, and a gradual awakening to the truth. Clara discovers the truth in the end, but also realizes that the clues were always there, had she been emotionally ready to accept reality.
