Ernst Lohmeyer (1890-1946) was considered in the middle of the 20th century to be one of the most important New Testament theologians in Germany. He distinguishes himself from most of his colleagues above all through his clear positioning against Nation Socialism. Transferred to Breslau in 1935 for disciplinary reasons, in 1945 as rector magnificus designatus entrusted with the reconstruction of the University, he fell victim in 1946 to the new political conditions. Only years later, in 1996, the circumstances of his death could be clarified. This book about an impressive life contains the contributions of a Greifwald symposium which was held in October 2016 in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of Ernst Lohmeyer's death. The contributions are supplemented by further biographical material, unpublished until now.
