Erika's Tales: Stories for Children

"Erika's Tales" is a collection of fictitious stories involving creatures of the forest, ocean, rivers and mountains. The stories' suspenseful plots range from fantasy to everyday situations familiar to a child's life and imagination. The straightforward prose and engaging dialogues make for excellent oral reading for adults and children alike. The protagonists are often lively small animals who have their home in the natural environment of the western provinces and states. Others are fantasy creatures like giants, elves and fairies. These creatures interact and help each other to solve problems. "Erika's Tales" encourage a child's self-confidence and courage in the face of adversity. With ingenuity and the help of friends and helpers, the child will understand that he is never alone in life and that problems have a solution. The first story "Clouseau, the Cat" is purely amusing. Based on the imaginary adventures of a cat with a personality it drew much laughter from children and adults alike. The second story, "Tommy Thumb" captivated my little ones with Tommy's fantastic adventures . "Fritzy the Fish", "Prism and the Cascades" and "Estrella the Star" have an educational edge and present consequences of foolish decisions. The interaction with older adults, like grand mothers, is offered in the tales of "The Old Woman" and "The Heavy Basket.""Erika's Tales" include a series of Christmas stories: "Tanya and the Fairy Book","Hannah and the lake Spirit", "Christmas Lights" and "The Forgotten Doll"."Erika's Tales" derive purely from the author's imagination as she was involved with the education of the wonderful children in her life, the children in her family, the children she taught in school and the ones she is still teaching. Without these beautiful little ones, these tales would not have come to life.
