Concerns regarding environmental changes have taken centre stage in the present century due to fast changing environmental/climatic conditions and their effect on life on planet earth. The United Nations and other international agencies have raised the alarm and awareness levels regarding environmental deterioration and climatic changes. Improved knowledge has enabled greater human capacity to harness resources from nature which has also resulted in improved human living conditions. Longevity due to advanced medical technology and ability to correct defects in the human physiology are at a peak. Travel has become faster and communication is efficient and speedier. In short, modern technology has improved the capacity of humanity to achieve value in living conditions. However, the other end of the spectrum also displays another harsh fact, that the misuse and irresponsible usage of resources have in fact destroyed a lot of the good that has been achieved.
