Enchanting look into the fun side of life!

Lavishly illustrated with photographs, paintings and drawings, Peggy J. Parks' delightful chronological review of entertainment from 7,000 BC to the present will delight readers from 9 to 90! Chess, marbles, bowling, soccer handball and more had their origins in ancient times, and people sought out entertainments for the same reasons that we do -- to enjoy life more. Even amusement parks, magic acts and live theater go back much farther than we would expect. There is a glossary and list of books and websites provided, adding to the educational value. Entertainment Yesterday and Today is simply written in a lively fashion -- as light and sweet as the "fairy floss" (AKA cotton candy) introduced at the world's fair in 1909! I absolutely loved it!
