Book Overview

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

Cassidy Hutchinson's desk was mere steps from the most controversial president in recent American history. Now, she provides a riveting account of her extraordinary experiences as an idealistic young woman thrust into the middle of a national crisis, where she risked everything to tell the truth about some of the most powerful people in Washington.

Ever since a childhood visit to Washington, DC, Cassidy Hutchinson aspired to serve her country in government. Raised in a working-class family with a military background, she was the first in her immediate family to graduate from college. Despite having no ties to Washington, Hutchinson landed a vital position at the center of the Trump White House.

Her life took a dramatic turn on January 6th, 2021, when, at twenty-four, she found herself in one of the most extraordinary and unprecedented calamities in modern political history.

Hutchinson was faced with a choice between loyalty to the Trump administration or loyalty to the country by revealing what she saw and heard in the attempt to overthrow a democratic election. She bravely came forward to become the pivotal witness in the House January 6 investigations, as her testimony transfixed and stunned the nation. In her memoir, Hutchinson reveals the struggle between the pressures she confronted to toe the party line and the demands of the oath she swore to defend American democracy.

Enough reaches far beyond the typical insider political account. It's the saga of a woman whose fierce determination helped her overcome childhood challenges to get her dream job, only to face a crisis of conscience--one that more senior White House aides tried to evade--and, in the process, find her voice and herself. This is a portrait of how the courage of one person can change the course of history.

Laughable

Reads like a commissioned propaganda hit piece. NYT best seller...lol go figure.

More Than Enough

This book was very informative as to how things worked behind the scenes in the Trump White House. I appreciate the stand she took for the truth and so young. The review by Duane M sums it up to a T. I am reading it a second time as a study.

I've had ENOUGH of Trump's lies and temper tantrums.

I read it twice. you have to 'stand back' and see where she's going. A humble beginning and a very small Beltway college sent her forth to a series of 'summer intern jobs' in DC, which she liked. In that she got hired because she was admired by the toadies in the Trump campaign...herein lies the moral: she loyally defends her boss Mark Meadows who is Trump's 3rd Chief of Staff in 3 years and calls herself the 'Chief of Stuff'. Her desk is 12 steps from both Trump and Meadow's door. She hears all the cussing, late night scheming, door slamming, clandestine entries, sees Meadows BURNING White House documents in his fireplace... yet she remains loyal to Trump etal. She is faithful to Trump right up to and thru the J6 insureection. She is counting on a post-WH job/salary with Trump in Florida. She is called to testify for the J6 committee and told ( by a Trump Organization lawyer) to just say 'I dont recall'. She knows this is wrong and has an ephiphany. She re-testifies and offers the unvarnished truth of Trump's egolamaniac scheme to overturn the election.... she has to go to a used clothing store to get the white jacket she wore (on tv) for the subpeona. Essentially her loyalty was to her paycheck until her epiphany and Trump has a clear pattern of 'interim' and 'acting' positions for his hires so he can 'apply pressure' to get them to comply under threat of hearing 'you're fired' from any and all of his 'leakers' who would mar the veneer of his challenged presidency.

Enough

As much as I appreciate her coming forward, this book is painful to read. It is written in a childish manner. I can barely stand to get thru it, but only do so to hear an insider's point of view of what I believe is the beginning of the end of our democracy. Amongst the overly repetitive jargon and the personal information she shares that mean nothing to the story, all I have read is things I already knew. She shares just enough information but stops short of giving us REAL detail before moving on to another boring little episode of someone telling her how wonderful she is and who had a crush on her. It's stiff. Awkward. Elementary. And just as boring as she is expressionless during what will be in the end, the worst time in our history. Again, thankful she did speak up, but....if this is who is assisting the members in the DC Republican party...god help us all. It's worse than I originally thought.
