A Literary Enemies-to-Lovers Novel
Two young artists.Since the previous night, the more I thought about what I had done, the more regret settled in me. Within the crowd, I felt myself growing smaller and smaller. As I replayed the events again and again in my mind, my anger toward myself rose. At times, a few words escaped my mouth aloud, as if someone were standing before me. The knowing looks of those around me turned in my direction.
For a while, I kept asking the same question:
"What have I done?"
There was no sign of him.
Was he looking for me as well? Were we passing through the same places at different times?
So what was Belk's role in this trap?
Was she trying to warn me, or was she a snake drawing the prey deeper into the snare?
Suspicion is a powerful poison. Once it seeps into the bloodstream, it is difficult to recover.
