The images change but Emily's always strange

Like most calendars not every month is a picture you actually enjoy looking at several weeks in a row but I really love the creative artwork shown here. I think they're all great but my favorite is probably February with Emily looking into a large oval shaped mirror with gothic candles adorning red wallpaper and four of her cats - two on each side of their master - staring at her many reflections with the words 'who's the strangest of us all?' written at the bottom of the page. She can also be seen floating through darkened space, having tea with her posse, teaching at ghoul school as a vampire bat with wings, standing before a creepy house that appears to be haunted, sailing down a white sky with her feline companions hanging from umbrellas, and those are only some of the illustrations featured here so if your an Emily fan than get your hands on this 2004 calendar before it's 2005!And no, this isn't for kids.

To kid or not to kid

My daughter (Emily) is a healthy 7-year-old. I bought her this book, and had a look at it before I gave it to her. I thought it was a little dark, a little bit left of centre, but ultimately harmless. Maybe if you're Ned Flanders from the Simpsons, you would have a moral issue or two. Otherwise, this is fine. Emily loves this book - it appealed to her sense of identity in general - she felt special because of it, that it wasn't something that could be taken on by just anyone unless they too were called Emily. And she hasn't harmed any boy, dog, parent or herself since first reading it a year ago. She remains an upbeat, unique, and happy 7-year-old with a wonderfully skewed take on the world, much like the eponymous Emily the Strange.

A Great Bookfor

I'm 15, ny name, ironically enough, is Emily. This book is hilarious, more so because I noticed several similarities between Emily and myself.It's not for kids? That depends on your definition of "kids". Many teens and pre-teens (myself included) feel kind of warm and fuzzy to realize that there is someone as strange as they are, strange enough to write a book about it even.I would not say that this book is for "Goths", or at least not exclusively, it's just for people who are strange.If you liked this book, try Emily's Book of the Strange, which is even better.

Words to live by...

I think this book is great - It's short and to the point. One of those books I pick up and read in 5 minutes (literally - I think there's a total of 40 words in the whole book) when I'm having a bad day. Makes me smile, and that's what's most important. I bought myself a copy and bought a copy for each of my friends! By the way, it is NOT a novel. And it does read like a children's book, but that is why it's so darn cute.

Emily: The Strange is The Best!

Emily: The Strange is a great little book! I randomly picked it up because I thought the cover art was catchy looking, and I was not disappointed at ALL! Emily: The Strange is about an atypical little girl who sees and hears things that other people only have nightmares about - however, instead of being frightened or wary of these things, she enjoys them. She's a little creepy (Addam's Family style) but very very funny and interesting overall. I believe that both kids and adults will have a hoot over Emily's bizarre (and a tad bit macabre) outlook on things. In my opinion, this little charm is creatively written and beautiful to look at . . . Cosmic Debris does some very interesting artwork and the use of the 3 colors red white and black is really neat. There are many fun things hidden within each picture, too, which encourages the reader to really examine each page to find something spooky or comical. I hope to see more things by this outfit in the future, because Emily: The Strange was too much fun! Happy Reading!
