A fun shopping expedition for kids ages 3-8

The sequel to "Eleanor, Ellatony, Ellencake, and Me", C.M. Rubin's "Ellie, The Perfect Dress For Me" is very nicely illustrated in a cartoon style by Christopher Fowler and an ideal picturebook for children ages 3 to 8. It follows the story of young Ellie who must find the perfect dress for a very special occasion. Her friends and family have lots of fashion advice and come up with some very improbable dress ideas, but at least Ellie decides to find the perfect dress all her own, imaginative, creative, and uniquely Ellie. The final page is a pull-out revealing Ellie in her very own dress. The sprightly color illustrations give Ellie, The Perfect Dress For Me an imaginative touch. Recommended especially for young girls as a reminder that finding one's own best look doesn't necessarily have to depend on the latest fashions or the demands of others.

This is a delightful book

Ellie has to go to a wedding. Nana suggest an antique dress "that great great great great Nana Kate wore when she was almost eight." Her close friend Arabella Jewel visualizes her as the total princess with accessories galore, "a dress with less is just a waste, a dress with much more fun has taste!" Mom takes her to visit Coco McCall a famous dress designer and together they also plot the perfect dress for Ellie. Finally Ellie decides, "Enough!" and designs her own creation; The Perfect Dress for Ellie includes a top hat, high top sneakers, pink socks and all. This is a delightful story that will entertain and teach.

Adorable

My daughter makes me read this book to her every single night. I'm convinced she's memorized every word of it. It's quite adorable.

A Very Special Book

C M Rubin has written another wonderful story. She has style. She understands rhythm and rhyme extremely well. The text is complimented with wonderful illustrations by Christopher Fowler. This book will charm and inspire children everywhere.

Great to read aloud

This is such a fun picture book to read aloud to kids! The rhymes are great and will entertain young readers again and again. Like the first book, Ellie's venture in "Ellie The Perfect Dress For Me" supports the notion of self-esteem for girls. The story focuses on a child making her own decisions. I certainly hope we'll be seeing lots more of Ellie in the future!
