The first short chapter gives readers a glimpse of Rhetta, a community fund raiser, and Rudolf Marcher (Rudy), a mega billionaire, who meet in November of 2020 to discuss her research. He stuns her with his weirdness and off-kilter generosity while failing to use direct eye contact. She had been working for months to gather data regarding certain pockets of society. Rudy's wife, Dena, is a philanthropist, brilliant, and ill but optimistic.
And Angels would be nice, wouldn't they? Or at least, thoughtful? The real story begins in the second chapter, at a college, eight months before. This is during the exact day in March 2020 when WHO deems the Covid as a pandemic. The reader meets two main characters - Mary Hawkings, a faculty librarian, and Dr. Michael Merrick, a social psychology professor. The college attempts to enforce measures that challenge the ego-driven and the technologically slow staff. This very dear original story quickly unpeels each character's unique depth, quirky concerns, and flaws. Faculty are bumping heads in what the pandemic reveals about them - while wobbling an ivory tower existence.
