even an outline!

This is such a great book and I was so sad to find out the author had died. I wonder if her family has even an outline of what she planned to write in the sequels. I just want to know what happens to Eldrie!

Great Book -- Must read

This is a wonderful story. Runaway princesses, search for magic, battle, death, love, heatbreak. The only bad thing about it was the death of the author 6 months after the release. So, unfortunatly, no second in the series.

First and Last Book

This book is great. I love the idea of a runaway princess. I got the book when I was at a 1/2 off book sale. When I went to write to the publisher for the 2nd book. To my horror I found the series to be discontinued. Sadly Eldrie the Healer is the first and Last book to the series that wasn't to be. I still give the book 5 out of 5 stars for plot, character development and the whole 9 yards.

Where's the next one?

I originally purchased a copy of this book out of a [sale] bin at K-Mart when I was 13. I am now 25, have looked for the sequel for years, and while I've found other books written by this author, have never found the 2nd book in the Elderie series. I think perhaps it did not sell well enough (Why??? It was GREAT!!) and the author never got back to it, or perhaps she changed her name, like Megan Lindholm changed to Robin Hobb. You know, to sort of get a fresh start. If that's the case, I've never been able to figure out what she could possibly be publishing under today. This is a great book, and though the ending does leave off on a TOTAL CLIFFHANGER, it is still well worth the read. Like the other reviewers have said, Elderie is a great, believable character, and there were several times during the course of reading this book where I wished I could magically transport myself to her world, and make the other characters stop being so mean to her!

Believable heroine

Eldrie is spunky, independent heroine out by herself in the world who by the end of the book is forced to go back being a princess and has acquired followers. Bit a down ending because she isn't happy about it, but the book was supposed to be first of a trilogy. One of life's frustrations that there wasn't a sequel!
