Effect of Yogic Practices with and without moderate physical activity on risk factors in middle-aged men

Various mental processes give rise to affliction which generates samaskaras or sub-conscious impressions. It leads to development of predispositions or desires (vasanas). Non-fulfillment of these desires results in disappointment and frustration and ultimately may lead to pathological state in the individual. Affective responses, whether pleasurable or painful may ultimately lead to pain. 1.22.7 YOGIC CONCEPT OF PANCHAKOSHA The word 'panchakosha' (pancha+kosha) means five blocks, Sheaths or pockets. In Vedanta philosophy it indicates expression of individual soul through five sheaths (koshas). These sheaths are nothing but levels of existence of an individual. The atman (soul) is ever-shining consciousness, perfect and complete, having no limits and without beginning or end. However it illuminates through layers of these sheaths. To reach the real essence of soul or pure consciousness, one has to unveil these sheaths so that atman can illuminate itself without any covering. In yogic concept our body has a) Sthoola Sarira (Physical body) - Annamaya Kosha (The physical sheaths), b) Sukshuma Sarira (Astral body) - Pranamaya Kosha (The vital sheaths), - Manomaya Kosha (The mental sheaths), - Vijnanamaya Kosha (The Intellectual or Wisdom sheaths), and - Anandamaya Kosha (The blissful sheath),
