INTRODUCTION
Health being the supreme concern for human beings everybody wants to maintain a
disease-free life, yet our life is subject to innumerable number of physical as well
as mental problems. According to WHO (2008), 300 million people around the globe suffer from
asthma, and this number is rising. India has approximately 15-20 million asthmatics.
Ramanakumar and Aparajita (2005) blame bronchitis for taking major toll in India and it
has recorded to be highest in Karnataka and lowest in Punjab. These chronic diseases
are more predominant among children and aged population. The causes of asthma are not very
well known.
The word asthma is derived from the Greek "aszein" meaning "Sharp Breath".
Galen wrote much about asthma nothing that partial or complete bronchial obstruction being
