A veteran of the 4th Light Horse Brigade who took part in the legendary mounted Charge on Beersheba in 1917, Harrington earned acclaim as a "Digger Poet". Yet he was equally skilled at capturing city life in poems such as "The Derelicts" and celebrating beautiful places as seen in "Mallacoota".
