It identifies what works in online courses and offers strategies to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world legal practice, making legal education more effective and affordable.

The book formulates seven essential legal skills and provides practical guidance on teaching these skills in both traditional and online learning environments. It also introduces a comprehensive set of learning design principles tailored to legal education. While the focus is on the legal field, the findings and recommendations have broader applications across various disciplines.

Professor Yarik Kryvoi is a senior fellow at the British Institute of International and Comparative Law in London and a co-founder of the Arbitration Lab. He holds an LL.M. from Harvard Law School, a Ph.D. in law, and a Ph.D. in educational technology from University College London. Professor Kryvoi was admitted to the New York Bar and has practiced law with leading law firms in St Petersburg, Washington, D.C. and London. With experience in international law and both civil and common law jurisdictions, he combines academic work with practicing law and law reform advising.
