Ecstatic Communion: Stories from the Passionate Pantheon

By Franklin Veaux and Eunice Hung

Set fourteen years after the events of The Brazen Altar and one year after Divine Burdens, this collection of short stories revisits the lives of some of your favorite characters from the first two Passionate Pantheon novels. In these five stories of love, loss, heartbreak, change, and renewal, you can explore the City again from a different point of view. These quiet tales of tragedy and triumph offer a new perspective on the first two novels.

For Janai , life in the temple of the Fiery One didn't go the way she expected when she first entered as a potential Sacrifice so many years ago. Now old ghosts from her past reawaken ancient wounds.

Chanae, passed over in her bid to become Sacrifice, faces new life choices on the anniversary of her nameday. Caught between the desires of her parents and her wish to control her own destiny, she renews a relationship with a long-lost friend.

Priest Hassen of the Fiery One, worshipper of the AI god of learning and knowledge and the City's foremost expert in anthropological psycholinguistics, is offered a new opportunity few people in the City will ever experience, or even know is possible.

Savine, ardent competitor and worshipper of the Hunt, confronts a bitter truth that may mean she will never achieve her dream to become Sacrifice and Avatar of her chosen god.

And finally, Donvin of the Lady, the AI god of art and creative expression, meets a new friend at a party, and the reverberations from that chance encounter will alter both their lives.
