Hands-on understanding

Earthwatch: Earthcycles and Ecosystems does a good job of helping kids understand the life cycles of various things living around them. It explains what an ecosystem is and what "ingredients" are needed for life. Every lesson is an experiment to help them learn by doing. I am using this with my daughter aged 7, she loves doing the experiments. Find out how plants grow and what conditions are best. Build a habitat for your favorite bug. Find out how your actions effect the environment by doing a simple experiment on your lawn. These are just a few examples. The book covers topics in four chapters: 1-What are earthcycles? 2-Air 3-Water 4-Soil. As a homeschooling mom, I would recommend this book to any mom or dad with kids who love to experiment. The reading age for this book is 7-12, but moms and dads can certainly help the younger ones with understanding the concepts.
