Book Overview

It is really strange to live with the unknown and still know that there is something not right with you. I knew that I was intelligent and came from two families that had no slouches in the brain areas of life. I have strong genes from many generations of doctors, lawyers, inventors, teachers, plumbers, writers, farmers, adventurers, and women who were strong great leaders, and I wondered why I was not living up to the genes that must also be flowing through my veins. It always felt like my life was one step forward and two steps back. I do all right in the arts, but you cannot make it in this life without math and reading. I rarely got a grade higher than an S for satisfactory or a C+. Even with a higher education and the level of a senior administrator before quitting the business world, the feeling that I should be doing better never left my mind and ego until the day many years later that I learned the answer.

I read this book twice and it was Very Interesting

I read this book because I have two people in my life that have dyslexia. One person is older and did not have anyone to help him in school and the other is now 14 and lived with me for some time and I noticed that she was very frustrated when she had to read in order to do her homework. After reading this book I know how she struggles but can also try and get some help to make life easier. There are so many things that can help her and it will be interesting to see if there are classes she can attend. What an eye opener from someone who lives it and it would be a good book to read for people with dyslexia and also people that could help them understand this and make their life better. A very well written book and very interesting account of dyslexia.

Great help for others to understand dyslexia

This book give a thorough and deep insight in to what it is like to have dyslexia and to navigate the world on a daily basis while words jump around in your head. It is good for people who have dyslexia to know that they are not alone and that others are doing well--with help--and for those people who are not dyslexic but want to learn and help support others who are dyslexic.
