Lovely little book, and handy for the musically challenged

This is a great little book. The illustrations are hand drawn, sweet and colorful -- a child making a dreidel out of clay as a gift for mom, and then playing dreidel with other children at a family Hanukkah gathering. The lyrics are traditional - two verses and chorus. Like one other reviewer, I gave it only 4 stars because when the battery dies, you can't replace it. But I'm pretty positive I remember it not being annoying. If you aren't that comfortable with music and singing, it's a nice way to bring music into your house. I use this book to "do Hanukkah" in my daughter's class each year. When the button still worked, it played the song (now I just lead it) and they sang along. I take the lyrics and write them on the whiteboard too to make them larger and turn the pages along with the music. Highly recommended.

Fun illustrations for your little one

This has been one of my toddler's favorite books...long before the holiday season!! I can't give it a 5-star rating because there is no way to replace the battery on the music box when it runs out (my copy is a hand-me-down which no longer plays, although I'm told the music component generally lasts an extremely long time). However, the illustrations are charming and wonderfully detailed. The dreidel starts off being made in Hebrew School and it eventually brought home to a house filled with kids and extended family gathering for a jovial Hanukkah dinner. My daughter bounces along and claps while I sing!

Great combination of story and music

My 18 month old daughter loves to read this book. It is nice because the music plays and you can sing along with the music. Plus there are pictures to follow with the story. I enjoy singing to her and she loves to listen. I want to buy others in this series.
