Characters so real, I felt like I could touch them--and one I wanted to slap!

I spent a cloudy, cold Saturday with this book, and ten minutes into it, I had forgotten the weather and was immersed in the characters and the story. This book has everything, an abducted five-year-old, a genteel and once-beautiful woman, now homeless and with amnesia, a passionately artistic young woman on death row, arson, drugs, murder, and multi-layered intrigue. And as I said, characters so real I felt like I could touch them and smell them. I definitely developed strong reactions to some of them. Read this one, it will be well worth your time.

Mary Deal's Down to the Needle is a superb thriller.

From the opening pages where we are introduced to Abigail Fisher and learn about the abduction of her daughter Becky Ann to the denouement twenty three years later Mary Deal's DOWN TO THE NEEDLE is a thriller that just doesn't quit. I couldn't put the book down. The characterization is great, the plot is intricate, and the action is fast paced. Read DOWN TO THE NEEDLE, you won't be disappointed.

A Taut, Riveting Page-Turner

When her five-year-old daughter is suddenly abducted, Abigail Fisher launches a personal quest to find her; unfortunately, her quest lasts twenty-three long years without any success. One day, though, Abigail learns of some striking similarities between her missing daughter and a death row inmate named Megan Winnaker - who is about the same age that her daughter would be - prompting her to wonder if her daughter has been forced to undergo dramatic changes over the years and is, in fact, still alive. When a series of increasingly dangerous events begin to threaten not only Abigail's life, but Megan's as well, it may finally reveal the long-hidden truth that she's dedicated her life to uncovering... Taut, riveting, and action-packed, Down To The Needle is a nail-biting page turner. Splendidly crafted by author Mary Deal, this engaging suspense thriller takes the reader on a fast-paced thrill ride through one determined woman's unyielding crusade for ultimate justice. In Abigail, Deal has crafted quite the sympathetic protagonist, one with whom parents of all ages will surely identify. The primary - and inarguably most important - job of any parent is to protect their children, and as Abigail fights fervently to honor her parental obligations to her daughter, readers are sure to connect both spiritually and emotionally with her heartrending sojourn for vindication. With driving action and intense plotlines, Down To The Needle is a standout mystery thriller from a solid literary talent. Highly recommended. Renee Washburn Apex Reviews

Nail bitingly thrilling, I was dry-mouthed at the end

Down to the Needle is, in short, a brilliant piece of fiction writing. Mary deal has created what, for many people would be a nightmare scenario. Abi Fisher has spent years searching for her daughter, believing her to have been abducted by her own father when Becky Ann was no more than a child. Imagine her horror when she receives information that her long lost daughter could in fact be languishing in prison, on death row, under the name of Megan Winnaker, convicted of a heinous crime of murder. So begins the most intense and nail biting race against time as Abi struggles to try and prove not only whether Megan is or is not her daughter, but also to try and prove the innocence of the young woman who has always protested her innocence as appeal after appeal has been exhausted. As the hour of execution draws near, the tension becomes almost unbearable and the excitement generated by the words on the pages take a hold of the reader and draws you in to the action as though you were a spectator in a real-life drama as it unfolds before your eyes. If I could give this book 6 stars, I would. As it is 5 will have to do. Well done Mary Deal.
