As the family prepares for a quiet Thanksgiving dinner, Mom gives each family member an envelope and instructs them to leave it sealed until she has finished explaining the contents. Unable to withstand the mystery, they open their envelopes. Enclosed are pictures of relatives. Dad and the kids learn that each one of them are assigned to entertain the relative whose picture they have. Shocked and disappointed that Mom had broken her promise to never have the relatives over again, they recount the tragedies of last year's Thanksgiving fiasco. Mom confesses she folded under the pressure. Mom reminds Dad and the kids that she will rescue them when it gets to be too much to handle. All they need to do is signal her like they did last year. As the discussion escalates and kids protest, the doorbell rings, signaling impending doom. With the battle ahead, they unite and affirm their love for one another... no matter what happens!
