wow

After reading most of the volumes in Grant Morrison's run on Doom Patrol (haven't read vol. 2 yet :(, I finally got to experience the end. And it was amazing. I've never read a "touching" Grant Morrison story that gave me the chills. And then I come to find that that story is in Doom Patrol. His title that made me feel sick, disoriented, confused, and shocked throughout. But what do you know, ******VERY MINOR SPOILER*******, Doom Patrol has a happy ending. A heart-warming ending. An ending that makes you want to build a new world, or start singing. Yeah, kinda creeps you out how? But I guess that's how Doom Patrol should be. writing: [9.5/10] art: [8.5/10] color: [7/10]

the grand finale

i thought this whole series was a masterpiece. David Snyder or whatever his name is said that after watchmen there was no other comparalbe graphic novel to make into a movie. Well you can see by his horrible depiction of watchmen that he has no idea what he is talking about. That statement and subsequent movie show that he knows nothing about comic books. Not that it should be made into a movie, but Doom Patrol is one of the true classics of the comic medium and every bit as dense and creative as watcmen. I actually think it coincides more with my personal tastes. I could not recommend anything more highly. If you havent read this series start with the first one and work your way up you wont regret it. Take for example Batman No mans land. It is five graphic novels that could have been edited down for quality to about two. Doom Patrol however is 6 books of total beauty from start to finish. If you are a fan of grant morrison than dont wait any longer. It may be to out there for some but those arent the people im interested in. If you are open minded and like your art work and writting outside of the box that you can do much better than this.

An ending of wonderful friendship ;(

This is last Grant Morrison's Doom Patrol graphic novel. DP had ups and downs and even boring storylines, but Grant here scored three point shot at the end of a game and made a winner. I would recommend all six trades since big picture story is worth reading.

Doom Patrol's Grand Finale

A must have for fans of Morrison's run on Doom Patrol, this volume collects the final story arc and brings about a conclusion that only Morrison could dream up. As is the case with all of Morrison's Doom Patrol run, the artwork is workman-like and certainly not a selling point, but Morrison's bizarre twists and turns make the exciting conclusion of Doom Patrol a must have for fans of one of comics' greatest writers. This volume also includes the one-shot comic Doom Force, an X-man parody which has some loose connections to Doom Patrol. Personally I'd rather they kept that story on ice and charged a buck or two less for the book. If you are a fan of Doom Patrol, you can't go wrong with this title.

The grand finale of Morrison's masterpiece!

Up front, I have to confess I'm not a fan of Morrison's recent work with the exception of WE3. Personally, I think he's too weird in books like the Invisibles and the Filth and merely good on X-Men and JLA. To this day, I still consider his early work like Animal Man and Doom Patrol to be his best works. First of all, his trademark weirdness and inventiveness he's known for was right there from the beginning. However, he also had strong sympathetic characters like Cliff Steele and Crazy Jane to keep the book grounded in reality and give readers something to care about. Volume 6 wraps up Morrison's final Doom Patrol issues (58-63) and includes his one-shot 1992 parody of the Doom Patrol written in the style of X-Men (ironic since he later wrote the book). Some of the individual stories fell flat or were just too weird for words, but overall, Morrison's Doom Patrol (19-63) was an epic masterpiece beautifully told and written with great art by Richard Case who's style evolved from just mediocre to great. Also, it had a beautiful and poignant ending. DC should have let Doom Patrol end with #63 because you just can't improve on genius.
