Myra is a happy-go-lucky fourth-grader who discovers how automatic negative thoughts - or ANTs - can fill her with sadness and hopelessness. Ms Burke, the school counselor helps Myra understand how to stop feeding the ANTs and get back to being happy-go-lucky. Based upon existing "automatic negative thought" therapies, Myra's story is the first of several by Erin Bernardi to focus on issues pertaining to elementary school children. The ANTs were illustrated to show children facial expressions and body language that may resonate with them, and therefore start a discussion about their own ANTs.
