As a favor, Lucy pretends to be her twin Cindy for a few days and takes a trip to Guatemala. She finds herself trapped playing Cindy, kidnapped, then forced to pay for Cindy's former sins. But the revenge-bound tycoon who kidnapped Lucy can't help falling in love with her. She takes off and he follows; it's really touching how he slowly surrenders his pride. The hero is deeply macho yet capable of unbelievably romantic gestures. Both characters seem very real, and you can tell when they fall in love and why. And this is the first Latino hero Graham does that I really buy into... and like! He truly is gorgeous. As for Lucy, she's smart, sweet, and wonderfully unassuming. No wonder Joaquin gravitates towards her; self-confidence opposites attract, Graham has it right. Lucy makes a couple of mistakes and has the strength to identify and acknowledge them. So does Joaquin. There's nothing wrong with that, it makes them human.
Chemistry!

Joaquin is not a jerk! Naturally he was tough on Lucy when he believed that her greedy demands had reduced his elderly employee to poverty. Of course he was shocked and hurt when he discovered that Lucy was not even the woman he had believed her to be! Honesty is crucial in all relationships and a man in love would have little sympathy for Lucy's loyalty to her sister, rather than to him. What kind of man would not be frantic about the safety of a teenage sister, who has gone missing in a foreign country? At this point, don't forget that the old man's money has not been returned and Joaquin has no resaon to think better of Lucy on that score. This story had several very funny episodes and I thought it was excellent. Where was the chemistry? Hey, were you guys reading the same book that I was? I thought the chemistry sizzled off the pages!
Another cracker from Lynne!

Lynne never ceases to amaze me with her ability to write passionate, sexy, but also sensitve books! This one only seems more lighthearted because the hero and heroine do not have a past with each other, whereas many of Lynne's characters do. There was a raw sensuality that dominated all the scenes from the hero and heroine's meeting, particulary in the Guatemalan bush. What I love is Lynne's ability to give a fresh spin to a plot, and this happened when the hero's sister made her quick getaway with Lucy. This was totally unexpected and kept me rooted to the page from thereafter. The heroine's sister was basically not a nice person, so I can completely understand why the hero treated Lucy the way he did. I wonder did some people forget when reading this story that the hero was under the illusion of Lucy BEING her sister for most of the book and being a nasty thief. This book again confirms my loyalty to Lynne Graham as a writer. I can't wait for Lynne's next book and can only hope it will have a plot just as lively as this one has!
Don Joaquin's Pride

I enjoyed this book because I think one of Lynne's greatest strengths as an author is that even though we are reading a romance novel, she makes her heros and heroines as real as possible. What I mean is that the characters are intense and react in ways that real people would react even when that way is flawed. I also think Lynne's characters speak and react for the given situation. Her conflicts are always well defined and serious so I think her characters talk to each other like they do because to be polite just wouldn't work. Like all her books, this one was great and I'll buy the next one as soon as its available because I know I won't be disappointed.
Not Lynne's best but still way above the rest!

Lynne Graham's books are so well written that it's shocking that a reader can give her book a one star. Lynne Graham is my favorite author, and I've given most of her books a five-star rating, but I have given this book 4 stars because although the chemistry is wonderful between the hero and heroine, I did not feel it was as intense as in most of her other books because there is only one major love scene at the middle of the book and a short one at the end. Lynne's heroes are very powerful personalities and in their misunderstanding of the heroines, they can verbally be quite cruel, but the heroines always tell them off. The interaction between them is great, whether they're making love or arguing. Do not let a one-star review by another reader deter you from buying this book. This book has a great story, wonderful chemistry, beautiful setting, superb dialogue, and if you like the type of heroes (gorgeous, powerful, billionaires) and heroines (virginal, Cinderella-types) that Lynne writes about, then this book cannot be rated lower than four stars.
