Our book is intended to be a collection of some of the presentations we have given at seminars, conferences, and symposia to which we have been invited. It does not aim to provide an exhaustive list of all the cultural treasures the Congo has to offer. Rather, by highlighting certain cultural traits, it aims to draw attention to a subject that is rarely discussed, to encourage the creation of conditions that will lead to more and more discussion of it, to spark interest in cultural heritage, and to urge policymakers and men and women who love culture to become more involved and committed to this sector. Only in this way will culture help become "a true driver of development for our emerging countries."
