Dirty Little Secrets

By Philip Soletsky

"What would you say if I told you I think Ellis was murdered?" Jack's friend and retired fellow firefighter Jonas approaches him at a funeral for Dunboro's previous fire chief with the theory that the death was no accident. Jack thinks the idea far-fetched, but agrees to look into it as a favor. His investigation leads him to a mysterious and deadly religious cult from the town's past, one supposedly eradicated when the FBI raided their church nearly forty years earlier. To Jack's dawning horror he comes to realize that members of the cult remain in Dunboro, just like the ruins of their burned and abandoned building, and both hold dark secrets. Secrets someone is willing to kill for - to ensure they remain buried.
