Kiddo fell in love with "Dim Sum, Here We Come!"

I picked this up from the local library for the first time a little over a year ago, and the youngest of my nanny-children immediately fell in love with the illustrations and story. Since then we've checked it out time and time again. It piqued all the kids' interests enough that we took the book with us when we went to a local dim sum restaurant for the first time. The illustrations of the dim sum dishes even came in handy when we found some of the dishes offered at our local spot had slightly different names. I was able to show the waiter the pages to double check I'd ordered the ones the kids wanted to try most from the book. I think he got a kick out of it too. Like the sisters in the book, our favorites were char sui buns and egg tarts. All in all, this is a super sweet story about a family food tradition including themes of sharing, respect, and community. And for those who don't come a from a Chinese background, "Dim Sum, Here We Come" is a fantastic way to introduce children to one branch of Chinese food and cultural traditions.
