let you get the whole picture quickly

this book can give you a quick and still informative review about signaling,filtering,modulation...along with lots of graphs and up-to-date examples,the CD included is basically the same as the book content except some Matlab code and animations(not as helpful as you may think),not bad but can only have 20 personal bookmarks . you can get a system-wise picture while not falling into many mathematics detail that you may encounter in traditional textbook , but if you want to implement something real , still need some rigourous book.

Excellent way to get started

I'm a first year computing student taking an entry level networkings module. For the first month or so, I had quite a bit of problems understanding the concepts in the course. My problem was that I couldn't understand the lecturer, and the reference books that I borrowed never seemed to cater for new students like myself. I chanced upon this book, and it's only been a day since I've got it, but I feel that 90% of the concepts I couldn't understand have suddenly become clear to me. I find that I can now understand the books I've been trying to read but with no success, with the basic knowledge I've gained from this book. I'd definitely recommend this book to any first/second year university student.

At last a book that gives it straight

I would not normally be bothered to give a book review, but in this case I make an exception. This is a superb book for anyone wanting to get going on the digital communications band-wagon. It does not try and impress you with mathematics, nor does it oversimplify the topic. I read it from cover to cover in one go which makes me a sad person I suppose!Go buy it - if only to encourage the author to write on other topics.

Digital Comms explained without too much theory!

I had been looking for an introductory book on digital communications that I could use on my training program which did not smother everything with Math. After many futile purchase, someone recommended this book and having read it I feel that I should recommend it more publically.This is a great book for introducing professionals to Digital Communications in a short space of time. The digrams used are clear and interesting, the text is punchy, and well written. I now give a copy to each of my delegates who also have found it extremely useful.I would encourage the author to write on wider topics

Excellent Book to Aid Understanding

This book is very simple to read and allows you to rapidly gain a good basic understanding of Digital Comms.I have used the material very succesfully in my course and it is well received by the students
