At 19 years old I found myself weighing in at 230 pounds and just 5'3". I was eating my way to the grave and though I tried everything, I couldn't figure out why I wasn't losing the weight I thought I deserved to be losing. In this time I consistently was beating myself up because I was miserable at that size. I didn't look like the other girls, and I wasn't happy. On a doctor's visit for a routine physical after my freshman year of college, my life quickly changed and I lost 83 pounds in just one year. Now, though it's difficult to lose that much weight, it's even harder to keep it off for six years. In that time I have ran five full marathons and six half marathons. Previously, I had espoused profusely that I hated to run. If you want to learn about how I turned my life around to get to this point, you've come to the right place. In this brief, honest autobiography I describe how to find the motivation to lose weight, make manageable goals, keep those goals, learn to reward and love yourself and some lessons I learned along the way. I share my conventional wisdom along with some of my more unconventional methods that I swear by that helped me become more confident and make healthier choices.
