Because of how the book started, I don't feel comfortable giving this 5 stars. There was also an attempted rape before the story begins, which could be triggering for some readers. Clare is only 19 and has been completely sheltered for the past five years. She has frequent nightmares and hasn't been by herself at night since she was 14. Along comes Lazar, who practically kidnaps Clare as repayment for what her brother, Kit, did to Lazar's sister. Because I like Jessica Steele's writing, I decided to give the story a chance, and it did unfold sweetly as I anticipated. It was hard to like Lazar at first, which is why I rated it a 4. Some spice. Easy to skip. The kissing scenes are very often the same.
