This book is very deep, but a great tool for anyone that is designing worship for thier church. The DVD is great and helps you understand all the blueprints and details in the book. One of those books that will help you think outside the box.

How does this book measure up?

Book number 3 for 2008 - Designing a Worship Service. Current mood: blissful Category: Religion and Philosophy Don't be afraid. Step out in faith. God will lead you where you need to be. So many people say this but few, very few, can grip the idea and the action of this type of advice. I love to meet authors because I like to get a little look into their lives. There is a meter to me to see if they measure up to their mission. I like to see if I can see any of their book in their life. Fiction authors are really ez'r that non fiction ones. Steven King who I have not met but is still easy you can see the terror in his eyes and eerie smile that produces books who scare me to walk by in the aisle. John Grisham. He is an easy going slow guy who sounds a lot like the guy who is telling the stories in his novels. (because he is of course) Simon Winchester writes non fiction about earthquakes and Dictionaries as such. His research is perfect. He seems like he would be so meticulous and boring but that is not the case. He is engaging, funny, interesting so much so that he was to speak at a dinner I attended for 30 minutes. An hour and Half later we were pleading with him to stay even longer! The last book I studied was about worship services and how to get one MOVING in this young and different world. The tirade above is because this book was about a place that I got to see if the author was for real! The Book is: Designing Worship - creating and integrating powerful God experiences By Kim Miller Kim Miller is the description of the advice at the top of the page. She was not afraid to step out of her comfort zone and into a non paid spot putting together a service and a team that could really reach out and deliver her pastors leadership in a way the people could grasp and embrace. Ms Miller took the Step in Faith as she met resistance and had no formal training or background to help build a service, and a creative team, that would someday provide worship service to more than three thousand people a week. To follow a plan someone else had developed is hard. To develop a plan yourself, put it into action and stay with it encompasses FOLLOWING GOD's LEAD! You can't follow if you don't seek. She did, and the results are, as the constitution says are, Self Evident. This book sorta read like a manual for putting a Multi-Media team and service together. I thought this little book would be easy and quick. It was neither. This book takes time to digest and wisdom to understand. It does so because it does not really read like a manual but a story. A story with step by step instructions that talk with you, NOT "TO" you. If you are looking to energize your worship service this is a great tool. If you would like to read a personal success. If you like to see how God still moves in people and congregations lives this is the book for a lot of reasons. But two of them are, One. It was written about how it was done and how the
