Book Overview
What happens when humanity simply stops creating the next generation?
In the coastal city of Gladstone, journalist Sonya James notices something strange: no new pregnancies are being registered. At first, it seems like an insignificant statistical anomaly. But when Sonya begins making calls to prenatal clinics across Australia and then around the world, she uncovers a chilling pattern.
For seventeen days, no new pregnancies have been recorded anywhere.
What begins as a newspaper investigation quickly becomes a global crisis. Governments scramble for answers. Intelligence agencies launch urgent investigations. Scientists confront a phenomenon that existing theories cannot explain. Artificial insemination fails as well, suggesting that something far more profound than a medical or social problem is taking place.
As the news spreads, fear and uncertainty ripple across nations. The world demands to know what has happened, how long it will last, and what it means for the future of humanity.
At the center of it all is Sonya, one of the few women already pregnant when the phenomenon begins. Her personal journey becomes intertwined with a mystery that reaches far beyond Earthly politics, science, and human understanding.
From the quiet streets of Queensland to the highest levels of international government and scientific research, Demography Day explores what happens when the continuation of the human race can no longer be taken for granted.
A thought provoking and suspenseful science fiction thriller, Demography Day asks a terrifyingly simple question:
If no more children can be conceived, how long does humanity have left?
