The only downside is the length.

Wished it was longer. I honestly watched death note just so I could be able to read this. Im not exactly a nisioisin stan, I love and respect his amazing work. Tho im more of a Kouhei Kadono stan. The $5 for a hardcover just appealed to me. I'll think it was worth it. Very good story. Loved the references and careful detail it has to the main series. There were some things I hoped would've happened in this book as I watched the main story of death note, but didnt. Which sucked because I had developed a theory that I thought would obviously happen, but nope. Still great tho.

Read This.

I love the original series so much, and this was a great prequel. 10/10, would recommend.

Smart, unique story

Addictive, smart, and unique writing. I loved the memorable names, which let me focus soley on the case and not struggling to remember who was who. I thought it was a REALLY brilliant idea, because it's less of a story if you forget the victim's relation to the order of events. Why force the reader to constantly check back to remember who was who? Kudos to NISIOISIN! Normally I HATE movies/stories that are mostly mediocre just to set up an incredible payoff, because I'd rather just skip straight to the payoff and not waste time tolerating boring filler. This novel has that incredible payoff, HOWEVER the dialogue, character development, and just overall writing style are so gripping that it never falls into the normal "lame-story-then-big-payoff" trap. Oh, and bonus points for the beautiful art insert. :D

Keeps Getting Better

I was really disappointed the fun was over after the Death Note series ended, so it was a no-brainer I'd pick up "Death Note: Another Note" when I saw it in a bookstore one afternoon. I had no expectations, and all I can say is "what a page turner it is!" This novel does what I wish more books would do when based on an existing property. It's fleshes out the backstory hinted at of major characters, and secondary characters that served their purpose in the main story, but you wanted to know more about. Best of all, you don't feel let down with the new knowledge. DNAN keeps up the suspense and tension that the original series had, and manages to throw in some unexpected twists that really surprised me, especially considering this is a prequel of sorts (you'll understand soon enough). Author, Nisiosin is to be commended on an excellent addition to the Death Note mythos, and I hope to read more translations of his work.

BB

what's not to say about this product? I've been waiting for a translation of this for a long time, and to have it in my hands is great. The book is well written and Mello does an excellent job of narrarating. does contain spoilers if you haven't seen the whole series or past manga book 7. I highly recommend it for all readers.

Good Read

This was a nice prequel to the anime series Death Note and well worth the money spent. If you want to own all the items pertaining to Death Note then this book is a must. Filled with our favorite detective and a few surprises , it kept me hooked to the end.

Awesome Novel

I did a pre-order and it was well worth the wait. The book itself is of high quality, from the cover to the pages, which impressed me from the start. For the story itself, it's enough to want to keep you reading to see what will happen next just like the Managa and anime did. You find yourself trying to see if you can put the puzzle together before reading the next page. This adds something to L's character that was known but not discussed much in the Deathnote series. Most people wanted to know why "L" was so great, and some of his other famous cases. At least this book answered some of those questions! Suggest this book to any Deathnote fan!
