Good survey of eastern thought on death...and on living
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 23 years ago
This is a good survey of what the various major eastern religions and philosophies say about death. The insights on death and possible meanings to life can help each of us to come to terms with our own mortality. The main religions and philosophies covered are Hinduism and Buddhism, with a lesser emphasis on the the philosophies of China and Japan.I found this book to be thought provoking. The chapter on modern Hindu thought was especially well written and led me to the challenging and rewarding works of the modern Indian thinkers: Tagore, Radhakrishnan, and Aurobindo.I give it 5 stars for its relevance to all and its breadth of coverage.
