The boy and his pet dragon are lying on the floor looking at a book together and are reading about their ABCs. They see a picture of an apple on the first page. There is a capital letter A and a small one, the word apple and three short sentences about it. The word apple is underlined so they both can easily read it together. See the apple. The apple is red. It is good to eat. Every page is similar and the boy and the dragon are going to learn their ABCs and will learn many new words together. "Here you are with me. And here I am with you. Oh, what a good book, dear dragon." This is an appealing "beginning-to-read" book in newly revised series that is very popular with the youngest readers. There are ninety-three words in the text, all listed in the back for extra practice. Each word used for the alphabet letter is underlined and repeated twice, insuring a successful reading experience. The art work is very colorful, bright and cheerful. In the back of the book there is a "Reading Reinforcement" section covering phonemic awareness (the variant vowel oo), phonics (the letters O and o), vocabulary activities (adjectives and nouns), fluency (echo reading) and suggestions on rereading the story and discussing it.
