Wrenn Grayson, a historian, arrives at the Rosemont home anticipating money from Clay Addison, the mansion's new owner, for her work. When she and Clay discover Trey Rosemont dead on the foyer floor, their hopes are dashed. Police rush to Eastwood University across town. The history department safe was broken into and valuable Egyptian antiquities were taken. The department's head is Gideon Douglas, an Eastwood professor who has been Wrenn's longtime passion. His career can only be saved if the artifacts are recovered. Despite the crime wave, life goes on as usual in Havens, Ohio.
