Dead of the Night

In the middle of the night, a mysterious explosion is seen and heard in the sky above the quiet college town of Evans City. Most who see or hear it dismiss it, but by the next morning, the town's residents are becoming infected by the chemicals in the explosion and are slowly turning into hideous, fanged, flesh and blood devouring ghouls. In the midst of this horror, we meet several groups of survivors, including Jake (a young college student trying to find his girlfriend), Mark and Janet (a young couple who find their friends have changed and killed each other and are now trying to escape), Wendy (who barely escapes death when her roommate becomes infected), and the Larson family (who's morning breakfast is annihilated by invading ghouls). These disparate people must try to find a way out of town, and come together to find a way to stay alive in the wake of a virus that is quickly destroying not only their home town, but civilization as we know it.
