This journal is designed just for PreK - early first grade for children beginning to make their letters and who are at the emergent stage of writing. There are 25 clean wide-lined pages for journal entries, designed for a colored pencil drawing to be made above each entry, on the completely blank back side of the prior entry. Depending on the frequency of use, this journal can last from a month to several months as the perfect way to track your young author's growth. The pages in this journal do not have midline dash marks because they impede emergent writers. Once a child begins writing a bit smaller and begins to use lower case letters, midline dash marked journals can be used, typically from 1st to 3rd grade. After this time, writers can switch to wide-ruled college lined journals. For some children this can begin as early as 2nd grade, for others, 4th grade.
