Having taken two na ve but plucky civilians under his wing, he is relieved to be joined by Nova McLaren, the beautiful but volatile heroine of the Martian War. Yet he finds her combination of charm and ruthlessness disturbing, and the antipathy one of his charges shows towards her makes things even more tense.

Despite the combined skills of Damion and Nova, security is only fleeting once the Grand Master of Grey Dawn realises the party have a clue to his identity. Pursued by both Grey Dawn assassins and Unicops, can the quartet utilise their information to unmask the Grand Master and save both themselves and the Planetary Union?
