Better than the rest of the series

I am not the biggest fan of the dark series ; mainly because its very repetitive and not too intriguing regarding the characters and story lines. This however i liked this book out of them all. The characters had great pain and then after all all found the greatest love of all. The characters were developed and they also meshed well together. Though I would really would like to know if down the line they do have kids and how Lara and Skyler turn out with all of them. Anyways I recommend this book above the others.

A Wonderful Return

Dark Slayer by Christine Feehan is a wonderful return to the Carpathian novels....and it has been a long time in coming. To be completley honest, I had given up on the series--the last book I could "stand" was Dark Celebration and only then because it revisited so many of the other characters I have cared for. With Dark Slayer I picked up with great reservations, knowing that like Dark Curse I might be forced to skip several chapters, read the last one, then throw the book against the wall just to enjoy it. Imagine my suprise to find myself enraptured with Ivory and Razvan, and their devotion to each other and the fight against Xavier. Ivory is a alpha heroine we all can empathize with, and Razvan is the perfect foil for her. His zen-like attitude makes him a lifemate to appreciate---and for the faithful (if wary) readers of the series---a welcome departure to the overbearing, overprotective males of the race. Ivory is intellegent, capabable and very vunerable all of which create a woman who demands honesty and trust from all those who surround her. Without divulging any spoilers, both Razvan and Ivory's lives were hellish, more endured than lived and both could only find solace with the other. I wept at the conclusion of this novel. This is a good book. More importantly, it is a good story, a true romance---one that has been missing from Feehan's novels of late. I thoroughly recommend reading Dark Slayer...you will be glad you did. Enjoy.

I Loved This Book :-)

I have read every book in Christine Feehan's [Carpathian/Dark] Series. I have loved a couple, liked most and some were just OK. I LOVED This Book. It took a whole new spin on the Dark series, but in an Oh So Good Way. I think this is now my favorite book in the series. Ivory was a surprise character, since everyone thought she had been dead for a LONG time and the circumstances surrounding her death because of Mikhail's Father and Brother were always played down, like oh well its a shame but lilfe goes on]. Razvan went from the devil to, not an angel, but well an avenging angel, which is much better. I loved the way the two main characters interacted with each other and the other Carpathians. What irritated me about some of the series books, was the desire to reach into the book and smack some of the guys for just being arrogant a**wholes, their behavior and attitudes always excused. But oh did they get put in their place. Also sometimes Mikhail did not seem like he actually lead anything, but he was being/acting a Price of his people in this book. All the characters seemed to grow and it showed, be it for good or bad or both and I loved it. These two did some things to the other Carpathians that they so deserved and I was actually laughing out loud when I read it some parts and wanted to cry at others (I often feel the torture scenes are so drawn out they distract from books, this book got the point across well without beating a dead horse for twenty pages. It is so hard to write a review without spoiling it. And you so want to find out for yourself. Their were deep scenes like when Gregori and Savannahs twins were born and something new two people in love actually acting like they were in love not just wrapped up in some kind of mating they could'nt control. I have a greater love for some of the old characters, like Mikhail and Gregori, because they are showing growth as characters, and they introduced some interesting new characters, like triplet Carpathian's. Try it I dont think you'll be disappointed. If you don't LOVE it, you'll LIKE it very much.

Typically, as a popular series advances the intrinsic center "charm" seems to fragment as the author tries valiantly to keep up his or her excitement in the story. (Uh, BDB ring a bell?) In "Dark Slayer"...Christine Feehan comes back to what entranced us in the beginning....a species simply trying to survive. Granted these males are gorgeous, sexy and come built-in with speeches that bind a womans' soul to theirs. They are gut-wrenchingly honorable..fighting vampires who were once the same as they were: Carpathian warriors. In "Dark Slayer", Ms. Feehan brings us back to this essential problem but twists it as the villian of several novels, Razvan the mage/Dragonseeker is shown to be a victim of an "immortal" wizard. Zavier, the ageless evil has to have Carpathian blood, preferably a family member, to continue his his seemingly endless persecution of Carpathians. Zavier wants them all to die in a revenge-ridden quest for absolute power. Zavier captures and victimizes his grandson, Razvan, for hundreds of years, starving him and taking over his body to impregnate psychic women for the babies that carry a Carpathian blood supply. Zavier used Razvan's body in an earlier novel (Dark Demon) to attempt murder on Razvans' sister Natalya. After the latest destruction of one of Zaviers' evil labratories, Razvan escapes into a blizzard half-naked, and starved for blood. Half mad with guilt and unable to process the searing evil of his life, Razan wants to die. So he wanders off into the woods collapsing in the snow....and waits for the morning sun. Instead, another legend of the Carpathians: Ivory the presumed-dead sister of the evil Brother Malinov stumbles across Razvans' body after a lengthy battle with vampires. Hundreds of years earlier, Ivory was attacked and cut into pieces when she was betrayed to vampires by Zavier. Happily for Ivory, the vampires neglected to remove her heart...so the pieces of her body lay in a field while wolves chewed into her legs and arms. Ivory manages to put herself back together with the help of Mother Earth and, after lying in the earth for three hundred years Ivory begins her dreadful life's mission to eradicate the evil Zavier by unraveling his spells and fighting vampires. She becomes another legend, the Dark Slayer. Seeing Razvan's crumpled body causes her great pain because she never dreamed of family or children. She was always alone except for the wolves she saved from death by sharing her blood and converting them to Carpathians. Yet, she recognizes Razvan's importance to her...because he is the other half of her soul. The love story is touching and well-linked to the story line. Familiar Carpathians and vampires return in this book. Skyler and Dimitri are still fighting their attraction now that Skyler is seventeen. Outstanding Job

I purchased the book yesterday and finished it today.. Usually done alot quicker but life gets in the way.... Anyway.. I am a serious fan of Ms. Feehan back when Gregori's book "Dark Magic" came out back many years ago. I have been following and collected every book since that time period to ensure to stay on top of the stories.. So this is going to be my first review of any of Ms. Feehan books.... Now about Dark Slayer.....I love the way Ms. Feehan brought out Ivory and Razvan in the story...Switching them around in vice versa of warrior ways but maintaining the true Capathian way.. I also enjoyed some of our favorites such as Gregori and a few other ancients back into the scene of the story as well..I had to laugh at few of the characters attitudes for it was just like them to act up in the story.. It brought alot of questions to light that was not answered previously in her other books and no people I will not give away details lol.. You must buy to see it all and I reccommend it to buy if you are a serious fan.. For those that dont like the poems and the language in the books from the reviews I have read. I am not disappointed and enjoyed them. For what language would they have if it was not developed and besides. Remember this.. Ms. Feehan is going further back in time of bringing more ancients that are showing up in the stories...To me old as they are magic was never simple words as today. So I expect more of those poems to come forward in the future of the new stories. To everyone else.. Buckle up and enjoy this story.. You are going for a ride..If you are a new person picking this up.. Best get all the other Ms. Feehan books to follow the stories or you will be missing out on a great series.. Til next time...
