Even though the book title does not say, It is for Everybody

I have programmed in many languages and was looking for a good book so that I can do web based programming. With Danny Goodman's JAVASCRIPT handbook, it was not like reading a book, but was like taking a course where instructors guide you through step by step in school. The Book has been written with a beginner and advanced programmer in mind. The author has taken care to explain everything to a "NOVICE in programming". I would recommend this book to everyone who is interested in getting to WEB BASED programming.

The only book you'll need

After going through multiple Javascript books in multiple stores, it is with great pleasure that I announce this is the only book you will need to learn Javascript. Danny Goodman has simply outdone himself. Although I knew a little javascript before I began reading this book from looking at source code, I needed a book that would give concrete examples that were well indexed. This book is one of the best indexed books I have seen overall, not just for javascript. Oh, and the big factor "TECHNICAL SUPPORT"! Danny always responds to his mail of you have a question that he possibly did not cover in his book. He also has an updates section on his web page to keep you informed of changes in versions

A very good book to learn JavaScript

The JavaScript Handbook is a very good book to learn the basics of JavaScript. It's very clear and you go further step by step. The book has a lot of usefull examples. A disadvantage is that the JS Handbook is a little outdated. It doesn't describe MS Internet Explorer or NS 3, just NS 2 (PC, MAC). Another one is that if you want more than basics, this book isn't enough, but on the other hand, good basics are essential! Conclusion: A very clear and usefull book for the beginner of JavaScript

Very informative and complete coverage

After spending about 2 months trying to learn JavaScript on my own, I found Danny Goodmans book. I was very pleased. Not only does he EXPLAIN the basics, he also SHOWS HOW TO TAKE basic concepts and javascripts and put them together to accomplish more complicated tasks. The samples are each brief and complete and there are MANY of them. I would recommend this book to anybody.

Essential Javascript Book

Danny Goodman has written an excellent and clear book here. Good descriptions, sample code, updates on his website at http://www.dannyg.com/, and an object by object description of JavaScript. Included is a CD-ROM filled with cool stuff including evaluation copies of Director, Kais Power Tools and Photoshop. A JavaScript Help File in Windows HLP format rounds out the package. This is a good example of the future of publishing -- a book and cd-rom with sample code online documentation, evaluation applications and shareware, along with a web site to keep readers current. This combination adds up to a tremendous value webmaster, and programmers. Choosen by Program.Com as an Essential Resource. Danny knows his stuff.
