So you think you know Akira and Mina.

Just when you think you know Mina's Secrets and Akira's past. You don't actually know. It seems that Yuki's fiction may mirror a part of Akira's real life she never knew about. Mina's secret (well maybe not so secret) desires are revealed to the readers, and her enemies. The new guy seems to be pretty sharp, but cause for concern. And just too pretty, considering he is a guy.

and the hits heep comming

If you didn't read this yet you don't know what you been missing. This vol was good down time to get to know characters feel for one another, great dream story for Hime-sama,but i can't give it a 5 star just because i have to sit and wish for the next volume to come out! if your reading this then that means you have read the other volume and you have to love the story so far, you don't need me to tell you to read this, just letting you know i love is manga!

Yet another hit.

As I have mentioned in a few website reviews, I've been pretty upset with the direction that Hollywood and popular literature is taking the whole vampire genre. You can't throw a proverbial stick in the air without it coming down on yet another piece of garbage about castrated vampires whining about their lot in life, and brimming over the top with on screen (page) brooding. It's gotten old...quickly. What? They don't like human blood anymore? They want to `do the right thing' and just drink animal blood instead? Give me a break! I don't like the thought of how cows are slaughtered either...but I don't think about it while I'm eating a steak. Enter Dance in the Vampire Bund. Vampires trying to integrate themselves into human society...hmmm. That's a different road. Normally in these kinds of stories they are hiding from humans or running powerful corporations (which apparently only have board meetings at night) and trying to take over more human territory and/or power. In this story there are vampires that don't like the idea of being vampires...and there are those that really do enjoy it, and not necessarily for the reasons you might expect. The characters are involving and the art, while generally very good at up close illustration and sketchy at a distance shots, does a good job of telling the story. I've even decided to like several background characters. I've really been enjoying, not only the story as it unfolds...but the pacing as well. You see too much storytelling that has to one up itself every chapter. Dance in the Vampire Bund doesn't forget that it's telling a story, and that most stories have lulls in the action. Book six shows this as well as any. Just after a major incident, the first half of book six is about how things settle down following it. Great character building stuff, and time to uncover a little more plot. I know `throttle jocks' might disagree and want to see a fight in every panel of the story...but let's face it. The only reason full throttle is a rush, is because you don't spend every waking moment there. Lulls are needed, if for nothing else, to make the action parts more exciting. Personally I think they are needed for even more than that...but that's just one man's opinion. If you haven't read any of this series yet, treat yourself...Dance in the Vampire Bund won't disappoint you. If you have read it, I'm sure you didn't need my endorsement to buy this latest offering from a great series. - Mike
